sauchin 2011
sauchin 2011 is a unique promotion in Shanghai to identify South Australia as a producer of desirable premium bottled wine in the China market place and as a fantastic tourism destination. We believe we’ve got the lot fabulous vineyard and cellar door experiences,
passionate and friendly people, stunning pristine ocean and inland locations and wild life.
sauchin 2011is the renewal of the sauchin team’s partnership with David Laris at his recently opened Sinan Mansions; three edgy and exciting venues housed in a beautifully embellished historic building in the French quarter. The Fat Olive, casual contemporary Mediterranean style
dining, YUCCA a Mexican inspired cocktail lounge and their stunning intimate signature restaurant 12 Chairs. Sinan Mansions appeals
directly to the demographics we are seeking to engage; thirty to forty five year old young Chinese professionals and the hospitality
industry. This demographic is the future of South Australian wine sales in China and the target market for tourism to South Australia.
Eight days of unique promotional events showcasing South Australia including
an entertaining tasting for both trade and the general public on Tuesday April 26, 2011 in YUCCA. There will be fabulous cocktail food, wine options, prizes and fun all interwoven with some cool ways to learn about wine and South Australia!

background
When we staged sauchin 04 at Laris Shanghai this was also a restaurant in its infancy. Our presence drew a lot of attention not just with diners but with the local food and wine press and TV that was helpful to David Laris and of course our sponsors for 2004. All of our 2004 wine sponsors now have regarded agents in China or are selling wine into China. One of the other great advantages of being a part of a new venue is that we are able to help with staff training in the selling and understanding of South Australian wine and getting our sponsors wines onto their lists and most importantly keeping them there. In particular we will be assisting with wine education and the proper handling of wines by the glass. Education and wine service has been a high priority and in the last four years we have assisted five young Chinese hospitality professionals with work experience in South Australia, provided home accommodation and introduced them to the makers of South Australian wines on their lists. To see more about sauchin 04 and our young Chinese estages please visit www.sauchin.com
Apart from getting better recognition for premium South Australian wines and providing training it is also our determination to interest via the press the new Chinese tourist with an interest in wine and food in the hope that we can encourage them to think beyond Sydney and Melbourne as travel destination by identifying Adelaide and South Australia. We see Chinese wine and food tourism in the 30 to 45 demographic as an area of opportunity and quickly learned in 2004 that most young Chinese had not heard of Adelaide or South Australia. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to make South Australia, Adelaide and our wine regions a destination. The benefits of selling our quality produce into China automatically follow.
the south australian sauchin 2011 team
Ann Oliver is a highly regarded senior South Australian chef with a reputation for delivering unique, perfectly pitched events with spectacular food and wine matches. Ann has considerable experience working in China at the highest level and has played an on–going role in promoting brand South Australia having hosted young Shanghainese hospitality professionals for work experience in Adelaide — www.sauchin.com
This estage project has also been generously supported by individuals in the South Australian wine industry who have also identified the worth of wine education, identification of place (meaning South Australia) and the enduring bonds of friendship. Four of the six estages have gone on to take senior management positions in Shanghai and their enthusiasm for South Australian wine and the stories they tell have made them brilliant ambassadors for brand South Australia.
Ann’s skill lies not just in her cooking ability but her ability to deliver at the highest level please read Ann’s resume for detailed information about her extensive experience at the highest level in the China market place.
Ann knows that her knowledge and skill will deliver the right food and wine experience, whether it be a tapas style snack with a glass or two of great wine at the bar, a casual meal at the Fat Olive with the opportunity to try wine flights, or a degustation menu in the more decadent environment of the complex’s signature restaurant 12 chairs.
