FOOD We have a very strong association with T8 Restaurant and Bar and several of their key employees have stayed with us in Adelaide South Australia for extensive wine education and restaurant estages — for more details please visit www.sauchin.com

Located in the tourist area of Xintiandi T8 Restaurant and Bar delivers well above what one generally expects in this sort of area. Certainly there is a lot of very ordinary food in the area that is best avoided.
T8 is one of the older restaurants with an embedded reputation for a good wine list and reliable contemporary cooking. Their central block glass kitchen has bar seating on three sides and is great for lone diners. Conversations are struck up and friendships formed around this bar. T8 also has a gorgeous upstairs dining room that is tastefully furnished in the colonial Shanghainese manner. It is a beautiful room with lovely light and is frequently used for wine dinners for which T8 has become famous. The restaurant has hosted some of the new and old world’s most famous winemakers and if you are looking for a promotional venue T8 is highly recommended. They have the experience with wine dinners and the glassware and accoutrements to do the job well.

T8 Restaurant and Bar has had several Australian chefs including Steve Baker, Mesa Shanghai and Jordan Theodoros Aquacaf Goolwah South Australia. The recent appointment of South Australian chef Adam Liston has reinvigorated the food at T8 Restaurant and Bar, and whilst Liston could sometimes have been accused of being a little too experimental, under Zahner’s intelligent guidance he seems to be really finding his feet and we have had very good recent reports about the entire package at T8.

T8 is a great place to dine alone and make new friends so if you are by yourself opt to sit at the kitchen bench.

WINE General manager/sommelier Walter Zahner writes one of Shanghai’s best wine lists. It is a list that has tremendous diversity (and seduction), a brilliiant cellar reserve list and ample options for the lone traveller to explore many wines with their lengthy by–the–glass list. This company has invested heavily in staff training and two of their staff Liang (Butt) Tang (a sauchin estage) and his colleague Jean have recently passed their first level Sommeliers course in Shanghai click here for more details. In the main wine service in Shanghai, regardless of the price point of the venue, is less than satisfactory so it is extremely refreshing to find informed service.

The restaurant also has a reputation for wine dinners and cooking classes including Australian stars like Kylie Kwong. Checking the restaurant’s web site for special events is recommended as these dinners are extremely good value for money and a terrific way of meeting some local food and wine devotees. T8 also serves really good coffee so don’t be surprised if you find yourself passing by for coffee and a drink because really good coffee remains hard to find in Shanghai even in the most expensive restaurants.
