places to have a drink
in and around Adelaide

We love having late afternoon drinks at the COLONIST on the The Parade at Norwood. It’s not just a quirky cute little pub but you can buy a bottle of French Champagne for well–under $100. Their dining room is very noisy (if that bothers you) but their grub is tasty and good value for money.

Another completely mad pub that is always packed with locals and McLaren Vale winemakers VICTORY HOTEL at Sellick’s Beach where they always run a French Champagne for under $15 a glass and have an excellent and well–priced wine list. Grub is basic pub food but okay for the money!

More on the up market side two really great places for drinks CHESSER CELLARS and the THE APOTHECARY 1878. Both venues have fabulous wine lists and cool clubby environments. The bar at Augé Ristorante is very swish and a good place to supper and a few drinks on your way to or from the theatre. They have an excellent wine list.

We also like Sangria on Gouger Street almost on the Morphett Street corner.

sad but true Martinis
We are yet to find a really fabulous martini in Adelaide and seriously wonder why the gin and vodka isn’t kept in the freezer because we think that the best martini never touches anything made from water, especially Adelaide tap water ice. Any bar tender wanting to prove us wrong email us
