FOOD “Food is created not opened. Pichai refuses to be fast food business, he cooks for you the best possible taste bud tantalising experience, so please be patient and enjoy your dining experience”. Just a couple of the please consider the following on their menu. We guess that equates to the almost forgotten saying of the eighties good food takes time but in truth the circumstance may have been somewhat different.
Quirky might be an understatement for this little suburban restaurant!
A burlesque night once a month and you need to book four weeks
in advance. Busy and popular are two words that go hand in hand
with this pepculiar restaurant. The food at Tongue Thai’d
is inexpensive and generous but it is not a restaurant where you go there for the food, you go for fun! $4.50 for a plate of Fried tofu (nice clean oil) that comes with house made chilli sauces and soy. Fish cakes $6.90 (three large ones) come with the standard rubbery texture common to Thai food. The Spicy Larp Salad — Chicken $7.79
entrée and main $14.90 was simple but tasty. This food is not haute Thai cuisine but it’s generous and fresh and inexpensive. All three dishes came on a common and rather too plentiful garnish of Chinese and red cabbage and the larp salad, in particular could have benefited from no cabbage and more herbs. Everything aside Tongue Thai’d
is a very eccentric little restaurant with a loyal clientele and
arriving without a booking may well mean you are turned away, in fact it’s all abit Jesus and Mary for me! AO
WINE Wine list is not your every
day Asian restaurant list and all wines are modestly priced but only
three have their vintages listed. Their most expensive wine by the
glass is just $7.5 and the very good 2006 Organic Vignerons Australia
Rose and they range from $6.
