FOOD If you’re going to have fast food, good old fashioned fish and chips in a real fish and chip shop remains the best value and who doesn’t love fish and chips now and again. Run and owned by Andrew Lolic and Sam Tropea Fish out of Water is still the best fish and chips in Adelaide. Crunchy chips, luscious thin crispy batter and a Vicious burger with homemade hamburger patty were all fantastic. You can even, have a burger with Springs’ smoked salmon or a Vicious vegetarian. They have a simple funky, rag tag dine-in area with red Laminex tables and vinyl banquette. There are loads of magazines and newspapers to read while you wait or you might like to do what we did on a recent cold Monday night and gawp at the soccer replay on the big screen. This is having fish and chips at its very best, straight from the fryer.
We’ve eaten at a lot of fish and chip shops and Fish out of Water is one of the least expensive and by far the best. Two small (actually large) pieces of butterfish, chips (loads of them) and a Vicious burger just $16.50 were tons for two people — a bargain!
